Having been a member of this list for some time I finally feel compelled to
complain about a few things.
1) Why is everyone so obsessed with hardware? So many of you put far too much
energy into "This is faster than that", or "This will run on this system but
not that system....". I have a crazy idea, how about talking about Lightwave!
If you spent as much time animating and thinking about how to better serve a
client or tell a story, as you do which system is faster, you would probably
be much more productive. I know that speed is important in being productive
but I'm a strong believer in quality over quantity. So what if you can render
a frame twice as fast as someone else. What is the final result? An animation
with poor models, lighting, movement, surfaces, etc. will be just as poor if
it's rendered in 5 minutes or 5 days. My amateur pyschological diagnosis
concludes that your obsession with bigger , better and faster hardware may be
to compensate for some other inadequacy but thats a whole other issue.
2) Does everyone else recieve 3 or 4 copies of the same piece of mail? I
thought that whole Alpha 3 controversy was stupid and a waste of space to
begin with, but since I recieved multiple copies of every little whiny post I
was pushed over the edge and forced to send this e-mail. Why do I receive all
these copies (bounces)? Please help.
and finally....
3) I recently posted a request for LWave models of the human muscular
structure. That request is still out there. Please help.
Thanks.
